Hello, welcome to my blog.  My name is Jodie, I am 48 years old and I live in central Indiana.  Most days I am a home maker, one day a week I am a book keeper for my dads custom home building business and some days I'm a photographer, a web designer or a graphic artist.  As you can tell, I wear many hats, but my favorite hats of all are my wife and mom hats.  I have 3 grown boys, 2 of them are in their 20's and the youngest is 19.  As I write this blog intro they are all living out on their own, thriving productive members of society.  One is married to a wonderful girl and they have 2 children, a daughter and a son.  I thank God every day for my kids and grandkids and for my very caring and devoted husband whom I could not live with a chronic kidney disease without.

Those things I spoke of above are, as Martha Stewart would say, my Good Things.  Unfortunately life handed me 2 chronic diseases.  I have an auto immune disease that at different times in the past 5 years have crippled my hands, my knees, my ankles, my feet, my elbows and my neck with unexplained inflammation, soreness and swelling.  It has affected my eyes so that I now suffer from Uveitis (an inflammation of the inner eye tissue).  Doctors are not new to me.  Blood work, x-rays, tests and more tests were becoming a common thing.  Auto Immune diseases are hard to pinpoint.  They come in all shapes and sizes.  My 3rd Rheumatologist finally fit me into the Spondolo Arthrapathy class when my eyes were diagnosed with Uveitis.   I was put on Humira and that seemed to work and take my crazy symptoms away!

The second chronic disease I have is a kidney disease called IGA Nephropathy.  I was diagnosed in May of 2016 after several months of testing.  More on that later.  I'm not going to go too much into detail about my kidney disease in this post, as this whole blog will be dedicated to them.  I hope to encourage others going through kidney disease or help someone with a new diagnosis know what to expect.

I am not much for sharing on social media, but as I have been learning more about my own diagnosis I have been reading others blogs about kidney disease.  Some are incredibly helpful, some way too wordy and others way too depressing.  I'm not a writer by any means, like totally NOT gifted with the ability to write a bunch of eloquent words and phrases.  I'm more of a just the facts mam kinda girl.  So this blog is my journey, my experiences and my understanding of living with chronic kidney disease (CKD).  So welcome.  Visit often.  Leave comments to let me at least know you've stopped by to read.
